Those of you who know me, know I love animals. Dogs, horses, and now cockatiels are my favorite. They give me purpose and love me unconditionally. However, they can be challenging when I am working on projects and sometimes test my patience.
As a new quilter, I remember listening to a program Peggy Holt was giving and telling us if she finds animal hair or smoke smells on a quilt, it is disqualified. Wow, that sent fear to my very soul! I interpret what Peggy was saying as, “be proud of your work and when you show it, make sure it is in the best condition it can be”.
I did not close my studio door to my animal children, I actually welcome them. They inspire and help me do my best. They allow me to leave a little more of myself in my work. Peggy's words still ring true to me; I do clean off the treats my little helpers leave behind!
John has been working hard on the website to not only update our event calendar, but with some wonderful local photographs. I am so excited to share the fun with you. To read about our upcoming events, just click on the Classes & Events calendar on our website Home Page. Find the event that interests you and click on it for all the details. Here are some upcoming events for January.
Next Saturday, January 23 is National Support Your Local Quilt Shop Day. Naturally, shopping local is very important to me, but what about you all. I would love to hear what you think and how our shop can help you. Please post these comments on our Facebook page or send us an email.
Our “Take Back Their Life” campaign to collect items for the SAFE Women's Shelter begins Monday, January 25th. I hope all of you will participate and TELL YOUR FRIENDS about our weeklong event. We will gladly accept items from non-Quilter's/Sewers as well. If we can make a difference in one woman's life, it will be worth it!
While you are dropping off the SAFE donation, get your football pool selections too for our 3rd Annual Super Bowl Fat Quarter Pool. I do not know who will be in the game yet but if the Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals game is any indication, it will be a great game!
Patchwork Quilts' 6th Birthday Celebration will be held on Friday, January 29th and Saturday, January 30th. Everything will be 20% OFF (including website purchases)! We will also be three Demonstrations, including one on the "Ergonomics of Sewing" given by Occupational Therapist, Chris Phipps.
For those of you who have been participating in our Moda Sampler Block Shuffle, make sure to download the Quilt Assembly/Finishing Instructions and submit all your block photos to us before the end of January. The winner will be announced on February 3rd.
We will be starting our Heart's Delight BOM class this Saturday and that is shaping up to be really fun and educational! We still have a couple of seats left for this wonderful class, so please contact us soon.
Have fun sewing and I hope to hear from you with your comments about our shop and your SAFE donations.
